On November 24 2023, the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya, Indonesia, visited the Faculty of Fisheries Kasetsart University in Thailand. The group consisting of all Department Heads and lecturer representatives was led by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sc. Asep Awaludin Prihanto, S.Pi., MP, on a benchmarking mission for Masters study programs to improve the quality of education and research at both institutions.

In order to strengthen collaboration between the two Faculties, the delegation from Universitas Brawijaya and Kasetsart University agreed to implement a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This implementation covers various aspects of cooperation, including knowledge exchange, joint research, and strengthening the capacity of lecturers and students. The implementation of the MoU is expected to create a more innovative learning atmosphere and support the development of human resources in the fields of fisheries and marine science.

The warm reception of the Indonesian group was seen in the remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries, Kasetsart University, Dr. Scient. Suriyan Tunkijjanukij. In his speech, together with all the heads of the Faculty of Fisheries, Kasetsart University, welcomed this joint initiative and emphasized the importance of cross-country collaboration to face global challenges in the marine and fisheries sector.

This visit will also provide an opportunity for students and lecturers from both faculties to interact, exchange experiences, and deepen their understanding of current issues in fisheries and marine science. On this occasion, the group from FFMS UB was also invited to see the laboratory facilities and workshop rooms. With the benchmarking and implementation of the MoU, it is hoped that students and lecturers from FFMS UB and the Faculty of Fisheries Kasetsart University will receive significant benefits. It is hoped that this collaboration will create a stimulative academic environment, advance scientific research, and prepare the younger generation to become leaders in the field of fisheries and marine science.[*]
