Monday (March 04th, 2024), the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya (FFMS UB) in collaboration with the Shrimp Club Indonesia (SCI) held a laboratory analyst training, as a form of joint commitment to improve information and skills in laboratory analysis, especially those related to shrimp farms.
Located at the “Laboratorium Perikanan Air Payau” FFMS UB, Probolinggo, East Java, this training activity will last for 5 days, from March 4 to March 8, 2024. Attended by 18 participants consisting of shrimp farming company practitioners, shrimp pond practitioners, feed company practitioners and some of lecturers from FFMS UB, this training activity presented Mila Ayu Ambarsari from Commission III SCI for the Development of Science, Technology and Human Resources as a trainer and accompanied by technician from the “Laboratorium Perikanan Air Payau” FFMS UB

Rully Setya Purnama as the head of the organizing committee of the activity, delivered his opening remarks. This laboratory analysis training activity was held as a form of SCI’s commitment to encourage the success of shrimp aquaculture. “It is known that one of the factors that determine the success of shrimp farming is precise laboratory analysis and accurate measurements so that the next steps and processes can be in accordance with the results of previous analysis.” Rully closed his speech with the tagline of the activity, “Accurate measurement, precise analysis, healthy shrimp, shot harvest”.
Furthermore, SCI Chairman Haris Muhtadi added in his speech that in shrimp aquaculture, the challenges and difficult situations that are always faced by shrimp farmers are regarding water quality problems and shrimp diseases. This can be overcome by the need for comprehension, analysis and collection of detailed data so that analysts can solve the problem. Haris also expressed his gratitude for the support and collaboration with FFMS UB in supporting shrimp famers associations in Indonesia, especially in East Java.

The Dean of FFMS UB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Maftuch, M.Si., also gave a response to the collaboration activity between FFMS UB and SCI. FFMS UB is committed not only to build basic science but also science that adapts to sustainable technological developments. The collaboration between SCI and FFMS UB is expected to produce a comprehensive cooperation for the advancement of science and technology.[YFS]
