Monday, May 20 2024, the 2nd Floor Meeting Room of the Main Building of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya (FFMS UB) held an important moment in the development of international cooperation between FFMS UB, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Malaysia, and the Borneo Marine Research Institute (BMSI) UMS Malaysia. This event was attended by a number of important figures, including the Dean of FFMS UB, Deputy Dean, Head of Department, Secretary of the Department, Head of the Doctoral Program, Head of the Masters Program, Head of the International Relations Office (IRO), and the Dean’s Expert Staff.
This event aims to discuss the draft Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between FFMS UB and BMSI UMS, as well as exploring the technicalities and requirements related to the Dual Degree program which will be submitted to UMS.
Prof. Dr. Maftuch, M.Si., Dean of FFMS UB, expressed his hopes regarding the implementation of this event, “We hope that with this Dual Degree program, the quality of Masters graduates from FFMS UB can increase significantly. “This collaboration is a concrete step in providing international standard learning and broadening students’ horizons in the field of fisheries and marine science.”
It is hoped that the discussion regarding the technicalities and requirements of the Dual Degree program will produce a mutually beneficial agreement for both parties, as well as open up opportunities for students to gain diverse and international class learning experiences.
This event is a concrete manifestation of FFMS UB’s commitment to developing collaboration with higher education institutions abroad in order to improve the quality of education and empower human resources in the field of fisheries and marine science. [ALF]
