On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, a group of 50 students from SMAN 4 South Tangerang began on a trip to the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences at Universitas Brawijaya (FFMS UB). Accompanied by several teachers and the school principal, this visit is expected to broaden their understanding of higher education.
Taking place in the Exhibition Room on the first floor of FFMS UB, the event began with a warm welcome from Heri Puryanto, S.Kom., as the Head of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, Alumni, Cooperation, and Entrepreneurship at FFMS UB. The visit aims to provide students from SMAN 4 South Tangerang with a clearer perspective on their educational choices for the future, with FFMS UB being one of the primary options.

Sukanta, S.Pd., the principal of FFMS 4 South Tangerang, emphasized that this visit is part of a pre-planned program to motivate students in pursuing higher education. The selection of FFMS UB as the destination is not without reason—it reflects Indonesia’s significant potential in the field of marine waters and UB’s reputation as a leading university in Indonesia.
The final address came from Prof. Dr. Uun Yanuhar, S.Pi., M.Si., the Head of the Aquatic Resources Management (MSP) Study Program at FFMS UB, who expressed her gratitude for the visit by the students from SMAN 4 South Tangerang. Prof. Uun said that the visit to FFMS UB was considered the right step because UB is not only well-known but also offers affordable tuition fees (UKT) and extensive opportunities for knowledge and enterprise development in Indonesia’s marine sector.
With renewed hope and fervor, this visit represents not only a physical trip to the campus but also an inspiring beginning for the future of the students from SMAN 4 South Tangerang as they explore the ocean of knowledge. [ALF]
