The Campus Merdeka Program (PKKM) at Brawijaya University (UB) for the fiscal year 2024, organized by the Marine Science Study Program of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, featured two international experts as speakers in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) related to designing the research roadmap for the Marine Science Study Program.
This event is one of the activities to improve scientific competence through international collaboration which was held for 2 days on 23 – 24 May 2024 at the Swiss Bellin Hotel Malang where it was attended by lecturers from the UB Marine Science Study Program and presented Dr. Ong Meng Chuan from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Malaysia, and Dr. Mei-Fang Chien from Tohoku University, Japan.
During the FGD, the faculty members discussed their expertise in each competency area, mapped out existing research conducted up to 2024, and identified research development plans for the next decade, up to 2030. The discussions resulted in research roadmaps for each competency field within Marine Science. The speakers provided guidance and input to ensure that the created research roadmap is well-directed and clear.
By organizing this FGD, it is hoped that faculty members in Marine Science can play a crucial role in advancing research in the field of marine science, aligned with the changing times. [RZA]
