On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, the Mataram Marine Fisheries Bioindustry Laboratory, under the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), welcomed a working visit from the Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FFMS UB), Prof. Dr. Ir. Maftuch, M.Si. The purpose of this visit was to strengthen the synergy between academia and industry, as well as to delve into the expertise and innovations developed by the Mataram Marine Fisheries Bioindustry Laboratory. Accompanying the Dean on this visit were BRIN Mataram researchers: Dr. Ir. Tanda Sahat Sastradarmaja Panjaitan M.Sc., Nurhalis Tarmin S.Pi., Wahyu Purbiantoro S.P., M.Si., Ph.D., and Dr. Moh. Awaludin Adam, S.Pi., M.P.

The Mataram Marine Fisheries Bioindustry Laboratory is a center of excellence focused on research and development of technology in the marine and fisheries sector. With modern facilities and a dedicated team of researchers, the laboratory undertakes various projects ranging from fish cultivation technology, marine produce processing, to marine biotechnology. One of the laboratory’s main strengths is its ability to create innovative products that support the efficiency and sustainability of the fisheries industry. During this working visit, the Dean of FFMS UB had the opportunity to directly observe various ongoing research projects. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Ir. Maftuch, M.Si. engaged in discussions with the researchers about the challenges and opportunities in developing the marine bioindustry sector in Indonesia.

The visit also served as a platform to discuss further collaboration opportunities between FFMS UB and the Mataram Marine Fisheries Bioindustry Laboratory. Through this collaboration, it is hoped that there will be a more effective transfer of knowledge and technology, as well as the emergence of new innovations beneficial to the community and the marine fisheries industry.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Maftuch, M.Si. expressed his appreciation for the performance and dedication of the research team at the Mataram Marine Fisheries Bioindustry Laboratory. He hopes that closer collaboration will continue to be forged, contributing significantly to the advancement of the fisheries and marine sector in Indonesia.
