
On Thursday, September 12, 2024, the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya (FFMS UB) held an International Workshop Collaboration. This activity presented three speakers from three different countries, namely Prof. Kuan-Tsung Chang (Minghsin University of Science and Technology, Taiwan), Prof. Seungshic Yum (Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology, South Korea), and Dr. Wansuk Senanan (Burapha University, Thailand). This workshop was held online via Zoom and offline in the Meeting Room on the 2nd Floor of the FFMS UB Main Building which was attended by the FFMS UB academic community.
The workshop began with the first session by Prof. Kuan-Tsung Chang, who discussed the international education opportunities at Minghsin University of Science and Technology (MUST), especially through the INTENSE Program, which offers a combination of bachelor and master programs . The closest program to follow is the “2-year maritime engineering program”, which will start in spring 2025.
The second session was continued by Prof. Seungshic Yum, who introduced the opportunities to study in South Korea, including various scholarships offered to international students. He also emphasized the opportunities for research collaboration with international institutions.
Dr. Wansuk Senanan from Thailand closed the third session with a presentation on research projects conducted by Burapha University, such as coral disease, crab bank project, and their international collaborations, especially with China and Japan. He also invited researchers from Indonesia to collaborate in these projects.
Through this workshop, it is expected to open more opportunities for academic cooperation between UB Marine Science and other universities. In addition, this activity is a platform for students, lecturers, and researchers to discuss academically at the international level, as well as broaden their insights into the global learning atmosphere.
