
On October 2, 2024, the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya (FFMS UB) held a Guest Lecturers activity at the Auditorium Room, 8th floor, Main Building of FFMS UB. This event was held in a hybrid manner by presenting academics from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) as speakers, discussing topics on the utilization of by-products as well as fish nutrition and feed.
This activity was opened by Prof. Asep Awaludin, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FFMS UB. In his speech, he expressed his gratitude to the group of researchers from UPM for their presence, with the hope that this meeting can continue and provide new insights for both parties. He also emphasized the importance of studying various sciences from UPM that can be useful for the development of shared science.
The first speaker, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rosnita A. Talib, presented material on the production of fish feed pellets using screw extrusion technology . Continued with a presentation from Dr. Nor Amaiza Mohd Amin who discussed the production of fish powder from tilapia and eel, and Dr. Roseliza Kadir Basha who explained the innovation of gelatin-based film from tilapia. This session ended with the last two presentations presented by Ms. Zanariah Mohd Dom and Dr. Intan Syafinaz Mohamed Amin Tawakal.
The event went smoothly, followed by active participation from students who asked various questions to the speakers. The speakers also provided in-depth insights related to problems in fish feed production as well as strategies to improve feed quality and maintain nutritional stability during the production process.
This activity is expected to enrich students’ knowledge and provide significant contributions to the development of higher quality fish feed. [IMD]
