Shark is a predator which is live in around coral reefs and move in around basic waters. This predator located on the upper level of the food chain that very determine and control the balance of the food webs that is complex (Ayotte, 2005). On the other side, shark have slow growth rate and long life. Adult age of shark takes around eighteen years (Last & Stevens, 1994). Shark trade in Indonesia often happens. This is showed by FAO data along 2002-2011 at least showing that there are 20 countries that responsible with 80% of shark fishing in the world and Indonesia is the biggest. Indonesia and India itself at least have 20% production of shark fishing over ten years. Shark and stingray is a fish resources that the number and the distribution is limited.

Excessive shark fishing can be problem because most of the sharks do not reproduce quickly like others fish, that means highly susceptible to massive exploitation. As the example on pelagic sharks reproductive rate only 2-3 descent each year and very slow to reach mature age. Takes time around ten years. Based on CITIES data at least in 2010 there are 180 sharks species declared with threatened status compared with 1996 that only 15 species. Some kind of pelagic sharks that has threatened status is: great whale shark, blue shark, long fin mako, short fin mako, basking shark, whale shark, tiger shark, and thresher shark. Almost all species can be encountered in Indonesia. The purpose of shark and stingray manta data collection in PPN Brondong is to collect data of fisherman catch targets and non/targets shark in Fishing Port Nusantara Brondong, Lamongan.
