On August 17, 2024, Universitas Brawijaya (UB) held a flag-raising ceremony in an atmosphere full of joy and diversity. The celebration of the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia was enlivened by the presence of all participants in the ceremony, including lecturers, education staff, and leaders, who wore traditional clothes from various regions in Indonesia.
After the ceremony, the atmosphere in the ranks of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FFMS) became even more lively with the announcement of the achievements of UB lecturers and education staff throughout 2024. Some of the awards given include:
- 3rd Place in the Outstanding Young Lecturer Category in the Health Sector: Dr. Muhamad Firdaus
- 3rd Place in the Outstanding Young Lecturer Category in the Agrocomplex Field: Dr. Nanik Retno Buwono
- 3rd Place in the Outstanding Young Lecturer Category in Science & Information Technology: Feni Iranawati, Ph.D
- 2nd Place in the Category of Outstanding Head of Study Program at Diploma/Bachelor/Professional Level: Ade Yamindago, Ph.D
- 1st Place in the Outstanding Study Program Head Category at Masters/Specialist Level: Dr. Asus Maizar Hertika
- Woman Award Category: Prof. Yeni Risjani, Ph.D
- Academic Leader in Maritime Category: Prof. Yeni Risjani, Ph.D
FFMS UB also achieved brilliant achievements by receiving the UB GIRAFFE Award. The UB GIRAFFE Award is a prestigious award given by Universitas Brawijaya based on faculty achievements in various categories that refer to the Main Performance Indicators (IKU) according to the provisions of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek). FPIK successfully won awards in six categories, namely:
- Rank I Value of Budget Work
- Rank I in the Faculty Category with the Most Achieving Students in the MBKM Recognized Micro Credentials
- Rank II Webometrics Participation Category in Institutional Visibility Aspect
- Rank III in the Best Community Service Productivity Category
- Rank III in the Best Research Productivity Category
- Rank III in the Most Professor Processing Category
GIRAFFE itself is an acronym for Governance, Innovation, Reputation, Alumni, Faculty, Fund, and Efficiency. This award is given as a form of appreciation for the dedication, hard work, and achievements that have been achieved by the faculty in various aspects of performance, both in academics, innovation, and institutional management.
With this achievement, FFMS UB has once again proven its quality as one of the leading faculties at Universitas Brawijaya, while also making a major contribution to improving the institution’s reputation at the national and international levels. [ALF]
